ELKS Most Valuable Student Scholarship The 2018 MVS application deadline is November 27, 2017. The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2018 competition. Current high school seniors, or the equivalent, who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply. Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks. High school graduates are not eligible to apply. Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify. Male and female students compete separately. The 2018 Most Valuable Student scholarship contest is open to any high school senior who is a US Citizen. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. Applications for the 2018 contest will be available online starting September 1, 2017. The 2018 MVS application deadline is November 27, 2017. The 20 top finalists will participate in an all-expenses paid Leadership Weekend in Chicago during which they’ll interview with the national judges. These 20 finalists will be vying for two first-place awards of $50,000; two second-place awards of $40,000; and two third-place awards of $30,000. The remaining 14 finalists will receive awards of $20,000. The 480 runners-up will receive fifth-place scholarships of $4,000. The Chicago office of the Elks National Foundation announced the 2017 500 national winners in late April 2017. (Many local Lodges, districts and state Elks associations award their own scholarships through this program. These scholarships are not to be confused with the 500 Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarships.) Ranging from $1,000 per year to $12,500 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university. All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university.

SENIORS Kenneth Christensen and Russell Hymas are proud to offer a generous $1,000.00 scholarship for any individuals who qualify. The deadline for application submissions is August 1, 2018. Qualifying students can apply here: https://christensenhymas.com/about-us/community-involvement/general-scholarship/ To qualify for this scholarship: You must be currently enrolled in or have been accepted to (and planning to attend) a University or College in the United States and provide proof of current enrollment. If you have not received acceptance, you may still apply, but be sure to provide proof of acceptance and enrollment for the scholarship to be released (ex. screenshot of grades, picture of acceptance letter, etc.) You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Cumulative GPA of the current or most recent secondary education program you have attended.


SENIORS The Mathematics & Science for Minority Students scholarship program - MS², is now accepting applications fort qualified 9th grade students. The online application can be found at www.andover.edu/ms2 - the deadline to apply is December 15, 2017.


Ski Club If you are interested in ski club, please pick up a packet from Ms. Gloria in room 109 during nutrition or lunch. All packets are due back by November 28th.


Naval Academy The United States Naval Academy will be here to meet with Freshmen, Sophomore and Junior students who may want information on attending a military academy. They will be in the counseling office on November 21 at 10:00. If you are interested, please sign up in the counseling office.


SENIORS It's time to purchase and reserve a page in this year's yearbook. Your deadline for purchasing a Senior Page is Friday December 1st. Pages will be limited this year so don't procrastinate and reserve your Senior Page today. Please see Denisha Vigil-Lopez or Mr. Martin for more details.
